A British education, proudly rooted in Nigeria.
For more than twenty-five years, Ashgrove Academy has offered families in Abuja a world-class British curriculum education, without ever asking a child to leave their heritage at the gate.

Every child known, every child stretched
A school should feel like a second home: safe enough to take risks, warm enough to be yourself, and demanding enough to grow.
That belief has shaped Ashgrove from the very beginning. We are a British curriculum school, but we are a Nigerian school first, and we are proud of it. Walk our corridors and you will hear a science debate in one room, a choir rehearsing in another, and teachers who greet every pupil by name. Our results speak for themselves, yet what I am proudest of is the kind of young people who leave us: curious, grounded, and kind.

From forty pupils to a family of hundreds
Ashgrove opened in 1998 with forty children in a converted house in Maitama, founded by a small group of teachers and parents who wanted more for their children than the schools of the day could offer: a rigorous international education, delivered with real warmth.
Twenty-six years on, we teach more than six hundred pupils from nursery to Year 11 across a purpose-built ten-acre campus. We have grown, but the promise has not changed: small classes, excellent teaching, and an education that reaches far beyond the exam hall.
What we believe
Three commitments sit at the heart of an Ashgrove education, and they guide every decision we make.
Academic ambition
We hold every child to a high standard and give them the support to meet it, following the English National Curriculum through to IGCSE.
Character and values
We care as much about the person a child becomes as the grades they earn: honesty, respect, and service to others.
Rooted in Nigeria
An international education that celebrates, rather than dilutes, our pupils' culture, languages, and sense of home.

The best of a British education
Children begin in our Early Years Foundation Stage and progress through Key Stages 1 to 3 and on to IGCSE, taught by specialist teachers in well-equipped classrooms and laboratories.
- English National Curriculum, EYFS through to IGCSE
- French, and a strong programme in Nigerian languages
- Science laboratories, a library, and dedicated art and music studios
- Regular assessment and honest, detailed reporting to parents
A place built for learning
Ten acres in Maitama, designed so that every part of the school day, from lessons to sport to quiet reading, has a proper home.
Care that comes first
Every member of staff is trained in safeguarding, our campus is gated and supervised, and each child has a form tutor who knows them well. Before anything else, Ashgrove is a place where your child is safe, seen, and looked after.
Come and be part of Ashgrove.
